朝市
この数年間、なかなか大きい朝市が私が住んでいる都市に行っています。しかし、先週に土曜日まで、行ったことがありません。その朝市は、土曜日に大体、クラフトのものは売られて、日曜日に、大体食品は売られます。行くときまで、分かりませんでした。ところが、食品もありましたが、少なかったです。結局、お茶や地元のブルーベリー、サヤインゲン、ニンニクを買いました。アメリカのスーパーのブルーベリーは好きじゃありませんが、このブルーベリーはみずみずしくて本物のブルーベリー味いっぱいでした。すぐまた行こうと思います。
For the past few years, a fairly large farmer's market has been held in the city where I live. Until Saturday, I had never been to it, though. On Saturdays, there are mostly crafts, while on Sundays, it's mostly food. I didn't realize this until I visited. They still had food, there just wasn't a lot. In the end, I bought tea and some local produce (blueberries, green beans, and garlic). I don't really like the blueberries sold in most American supermarkets, but these ones were juicy and full of blueberry flavor. I want to go again soon.

I don't think these features weren't written with the purpose of helping people study a foreign language, but they certainly are useful to that end. First, you can permanently highlight words (Note: this is an extremely loose translation of the Japanese sentence, but I didn't like the way the English sounded when I wrote it). This makes it fast an easy to review the words you've just learned.
Next, you can search Google without switching apps. Monolingual dictionary entries are usually among the first results. I usually use a bilingual dictionary, but I sometimes use a Japanese-only dictionary. It's just difficult.

最近、初めてGoogle Play Booksというアプリを使いました。公式のハリー・ポッターウェブサイトを調べたら、安い電子書籍を見つけました。日本語版も簡単に買うことができました。電子版なので、知らない単語を辞書にコピーとペーストしやすいと思っていました。そのアプリを使った後、もっと外国語を勉強のための機能が分かりました。その機能を紹介しようと思います。

Recently, I used the Google Play Books app for the first time. I happened to be checking out the official Harry Potter site, when I found that you could cheaply buy the e-books, even the Japanese versions. I figured since it was electronic, I should easily be able to copy and paste unknown words into my dictionary. After I used the app, I realized there were a few features that were useful for learning a foreign language. I would like to share those features.

以下の説明はレシピの元です。カリフラワーをみじん切りし、電子レンジで焼きます。水を切るために、そのカリフラワーをタオルに置いて、強く絞ります。ボウルにそのカリフラワー、チーズ、玉子を混ぜます。てんぱんに四角でそのミックスを広げ、オーブンで焼きます。終わった後、ピザトッピングをつけ、もう少し焼きます。
面白いですが、美味しいでしょうか？
なかなかよかったです。私が使ったレシピはクリスピーではなく、玉子の味が濃すぎると思いました。妻のよって、レシピを見、ぱりぱりなカリフラワーピザを作れます。つまり、悪くなく、また作ろうと思います。

The following is the basic recipe. Finely chop the cauliflower and cook it in the microwave. Place the cauliflower in a towel and squeeze to get rid of the excess water. Mix it in a bowel with eggs and cheese. Shape this into a rectangle on a baking sheet and bake in the oven. When it's done, top it like a normal pizza and bake it for a little longer.
Sure, it's an interesting recipe, but is it any good?
It was actually pretty good. The recipe I used didn't produce a crispy pizza and I thought it tasted a little too much like egg. My wife says she saw a recipe that would make a crispy pizza. In short, it wasn't bad and I'd make it again.

Recently, I've been watching a person who streams computer games. It's convenient because I'm able to watch him while I do other things. The person I watch only speaks English, though, so I'm not able to improve my Japanese any. What's to be done? Watch a Japanese guy who's streaming the same game, of course. Now I occasionally watch a Japanese streamer.

「魔女の宅急便」という本 後半
今まで、２枚しか読みませんでしたが、この本が面白いです。分からない単語と文法もありますが、ほとんどは分かります。辞書でよく調べると、本を楽しむことができません。以前に読んだ日本語の本はそうでした。たくさんの知らない単語が書かれているので、すぐ読んで止めました。日本語の本を終わったことがないので、この本を終わりたいです！
So far, I've only read two pages, but the book has been pretty interesting. There are words and syntax that I don't understand, but I understand most of it. When you have to constantly check a dictionary, you can't really enjoy a book. This is how it was with some previous books I've tried to read. There were too many words I didn't know, so I quickly stopped reading them. I've never finished a Japanese book before, so I'd really like to finish this one!
